“Summertime and the livin’ is easy…”
Make summertime meals easy and head to Swanson’s Foods for Rib Fest 2022 this weekend!
Rib Fest returns to both the Hoquiam and South Aberdeen Swanson locations on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11, with an outdoor BBQ and free rib sampling event. The grilling starts at 11 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
This is the fifth year for Rib Fest at the homegrown grocery store, which has operated in the Grays Harbor community since 1905. Covid safety precautions prevented the rib samplings for the previous two years, but you can taste the St. Louis-style ribs this weekend (and without making the 2,000-mile trip to Missouri).
Pick up a saucy half rack of Kretschmar St. Louis-style BBQ ribs for yourself for $8.99, including an 8-ounce container of potato salad, an ear of corn and a bottled water. Grab a full rack of ribs, 16-ounce potato salad, two ears of corn and two bottled waters for $16.99. Your weekend BBQ is just that easy, fast and delicious.
According to a consumer affairs representative at Smithfield, the parent company of Kretschmar, St. Louis-style ribs are a cut of rib which is more rectangular and more uniform than a baby back rib. Additionally, this cut of rib has more flavor as it contains more fat.
Look for other barbecue rib sales in the deli such as Pine Ridge baby back ribs for $3.99 per pound, beef back ribs for $1.99 per pound and boneless country-style ribs, also for $1.99 per pound. Corn on the cob is $0.79 each.
If you need a “quick and easy” meal, check the meat department for Jack Daniels Pulled Pork or Chicken Heat n’ Eat for $8.99 per pound and Big Shoulder Baby Back Ribs for $13.99 per pound.
